ZA and Metroid Prime 4 check out rare discounts at GameStop

It's no secret that rising prices across the board have a huge impact on everyone's quality of life, often forcing people to put gaming and other hobbies on the back burner. That was clear in November, when console sales hit a 30-year low despite deep discounts on products like the PlayStation 5.

However, rare discounts on two recently released Nintendo Switch 2 titles, Pokemon Legends: ZA or Metroid Prime 4, are currently available at GameStop, helping to make the titles even more palatable during these expensive times. This only applies if you sign up for GameStop's $25 annual membership.

Legends: I wish they didn't evolve Pokemon in ZA

Pokemon Legends: ZA doesn't allow you to stay young and beautiful forever.

As first shared by deal master Wario64, if you're a GameStop Pro member, your “active offer” should have a $20 off coupon for Legends: ZA or Prime 4.

The coupon expires January 31st, and judging by the responses, it looks like it can be used on the Switch 2 versions of both titles. That effectively brings the price down to $49.99 before tax for the Switch 2 version, or $39.99 if you're still using the OG Switch.

Given Nintendo's lack of deep discounts on some of its biggest first-party titles, this coupon might be as good as it gets.

If you haven't yet used the $5 monthly coupon you receive for becoming a Pro member, or if you have a $10 settlement coupon from a recent class action lawsuit, you can score huge bonus points. Being a patient gamer is a really good thing.

Some big games have been heavily discounted recently.

At this point, it's unclear exactly why GameStop is offering such big discounts and other retailers aren't. Of course, you'll need a paid membership, but these are often discounted during major events or individually on major purchases or large trade-ins.

It's also a rare coupon, even by GameStop standards. When I re-enrolled as a Pro member, I got free Red Bull coupons or guaranteed discount coupons, but not on this scale.

That said, it follows the recent trend of some larger titles. Notoriously, Black Ops 7 cost just $35 roughly a month after release. Likewise, Battlefield 6 is still receiving a pretty steep discount.

Elsewhere, as my colleague Josh Coulson pointed out, the PlayStation Store's own year-end sale saw significant price cuts on some of 2025's biggest titles, including Death Stranding 2, Silksong, and even GOTY, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

Sales are happening, but it's definitely strange to see them so early and so deep. Don't worry. If you have some spare cash, now might be the time to take action.
