Beast Studio Techland can develop multiplayer games

Dying Light: The Beast was barely present at The Game Awards 2025, with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 winning almost every category. However, fans of the series were not complaining as it was the best game in the series. Techland has stated that it will refocus on Dying Light 2 following the successful release of The Beast, but it looks like other things are in the works.

The studio's careers page revealed that it has begun hiring for several new roles for upcoming projects. The good news for fans is that it's based on the Dying Light franchise, but the job description refers to it as a “new online experience.” There may be a multiplayer Dying Light game coming, although nothing is official yet.

As PCGamesN discovered, the studio posted job listings for several departments, including programming, animation, art, design, and publishing. Among them is Senior Online Game Designer, whose job description includes “Defining the framework and structure for new online experiences in the Dying Light franchise.”

Looking more closely at the job description, it's clear that the studio is developing some kind of multiplayer game. However, there is no information about the format. Whether it's PvP, co-op, or some kind of extraction shooter. The Dying Light universe seems perfect for a survival or escape game, but only time will tell what format this online game will take.

Techland spoke with TheGamer at Gamescom 2025, and director Nathan Lemaire said the team is always looking to the future. “Right now we’re very focused on making Dying Light: The Beast the best game Techland has released in over 30 years,” he said at the time. “But you can never stop developers from having ideas, right? We always have new ideas. What more can we do? Where can we go next? We talk about this all the time.”
