The original Ugly version of Sonic The Hedgehog is back in the movies

Sonic the Hedgehog became a cinematic phenomenon over three films and a fourth installment. But before the film could become a huge success, it was met with a lot of fanfare as soon as the first trailer came out. That's because the animators, for some reason, gave Sonic realistic eyes and humanoid hands, making him look like a grotesque version of himself.

Thankfully, the creators reworked the eyes and Sonic is now a movie star. But it seems like some fans just want to watch the world burn. Sonic The Hedgehog: The 2019 Cut is “a complete fan re-imagining of the original 2019 version of Sonic the Hedgehog.” Why would someone do this? That's a question only they can answer.

Ugly Sonic is back to haunt you

This is the original version of Sonic from Sonic The Hedgehog.

Sonic the Hedgehog: 2019 Cut is scheduled for release in 2026, and fans have reworked the entire film to feature Ugly Sonic. Unfortunately, the trailer that was supposed to be released yesterday has been delayed (thanks GameRadar+). It seems like the creators weren't satisfied with Sonic's appearance in what felt like a full-circle moment.

“The biggest reason was that we weren't completely satisfied with the 'final' result. Plus, we wanted Sonic's animation to feel as fluid as possible, and honestly, if we released it today, it probably would have received negative reviews,” the creators said in the post. It may sound ironic, but the delay is most likely related to animation rather than Sonic's appearance. I don't think the team was put off because the hedgehog looks too good.

However, we do get a two-second clip of Ugly Sonic running on a washing machine, and he certainly looks exactly like his original ugly self. There's no new date for the trailer, so fans of the Ugly Blur will unfortunately have to wait for more information.

If Ugly Sonic is your thing, in June we learned that before Ugly Sonic there was an Uglyer Sonic that Paramount thankfully scrapped. Unfortunately, they didn't do enough to fix him before releasing the original trailer.
