The biggest indicator here is Yuji essentially cut himself off from all his friends.. Yuji is losing them one by one, and it is too much for him to handle. Near the end of JJK, Yuji tells Megumi that her loneliness would be difficult to bear without him. If Megumi dies along with Yuta, Maki, etc., it makes sense why Yuji cut himself off completely.

A sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is published in Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine. The series is set 68 years in the future after the Shinjuku Battle. The main characters of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo are Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu, the grandchildren of Yuta and Maki. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 14 will be released on December 7, 2025.
