There are rude Gith, aunt elves, and fiery Tieflings, but Gale is undoubtedly the good one among his companions in Baldur's Gate 3. Sure, he has to eat magic underwear every now and then, and he might cause a nuclear explosion when he dies, but that's not a red flag. His loving and polite personality is mainly what he is known for. Plus he has a cat.
But even Gail has her moments when she gets a little angry. There's a conversation where Gail goes on a rant that's completely out of character. However, since this dialogue is hidden behind a very specific series of events, most players may not see it. This is another aspect of the wizard and adds a bit more depth to his character.
Baldur's Gate 3 players discovered the rare Gale Rant in Act 1.
As described in ContentPeanut303's post on the Baldur's Gate 3 subreddit, Act 1 includes a scene where Gale gets completely upset. This is very rare for a quiet and pleasant wizard. This happens when you go to see Neti in the Emerald Forest and she tells you to go find Halsin. But she also gives you poison for the Mind Flayer Parasite in your brain, and promises to take it if you start to turn.
This sequence appears only for Tav and Gale. The first person to enter Nettie's room is the wizard, followed by Tav. During the conversation, you should select the “You are asking a lot of questions” option. When you leave, an exclamation point will appear above Gale's head, signaling that he has something to say.
“I can’t believe she tried to poison you and beat you down like a dying dog without even a whisper of consent!” He screams when you interact with him. It's not normal for Gail to react like this, but I don't think there's a right way to react when you find out that someone was secretly trying to poison you.
Later in the conversation, he also reveals that if he were the one poisoned, his Netherese Orb would have activated and taken the entire Grove and half of the Act One area. Maybe that's not too out of character for him, since he's still worried about what his death will mean to other people.
