Fallout 4 November Patch Fixes Game Crashes

Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition was pretty much what we expected. It was a re-release of Fallout 4 that most people didn't really need to buy. We also expected that the update released on the same day would break the mode, frustrate players, and introduce a few new bugs, all of which were fixed.

Now, with Fallout 4 receiving 'generally negative' reviews on Steam, Bethesda is releasing a patch to undo the damage. The latest patch is now available, which should result in fewer game crashes when trying to access the new creations that come with the Anniversary Edition.

Fallout 4's latest patch should reduce game crashes following the Anniversary Edition update.

There's good news and bad news in the patch notes. The good news is that this update fixes issues with the creation menu and helps you play the game with the creations you actually purchased. But the bad news is that plans to increase mod storage are being delayed until December.

We'll reveal the full patch notes below. But the most important thing here is that your creation must work as intended. This means that accessing the screen or downloading all your creations at once will no longer cause the game to crash. The game should now be stable when loading save files containing missing creations, and the load order issue has been resolved. Hopefully, this means that Bethesda's main reason for trying to lure us back to Fallout 4 will no longer be hurting the game's performance.

Additionally, Bethesda has acknowledged the issues players are experiencing with the game's DLC, so with any luck, these issues will be resolved sooner rather than later. In the meantime, it appears that this patch will make it easier to progress through the base game.

Many Fallout 4 fans will be hoping that the update will end after this fix is implemented. It's very likely that you'll need to update the mod every time an update drops, and there's no guarantee that the mod author will actually update their work. This could therefore hinder your playthrough of the modifications, or in the worst case scenario, make it impossible to continue with that save file without finding a way to revert the patch.

In any case, Bethesda will likely be eager to get Fallout 4 into an acceptable state soon, as the next season of the Fallout show premieres on December 17. The first season brought thousands of fans back to Fallout 4, and we can expect much the same this time around. But Fallout: New Vegas is likely to be the big winner here.
