Dispatch's latest update has made one of the game's most bittersweet scenes harder to watch. Many players could see this whether they wanted to or not.
Since the first few episodes of Dispatch were released, there has been one big decision that has completely divided the community. Are you team Blonde Blazer or team Invisigal? In choose-your-own-adventure games, choosing a romance is usually pretty easy, but that's not the case in Dispatch. Because both Courtney and Mandy are a perfect fit for Robert in their own unique way.
There are spoilers for the final two episodes of Dispatch.
Strangely enough, though, some Dispatch players have found that even if they try to play the Blonde Blazer romance, they're still triggered by the rather intimate scene between Robert and Invisigal in Episode 7. This issue seems to have been largely resolved in the game's latest update.
Don't worry. Invisigal will no longer be easily kissed in dispatch.
Executing a blonde blazer romance doesn't have to be so awkward anymore.
For those who don't know, episode 7 of Dispatch features a scene where Robert and Invisigal are talking in the SDN locker room, and it's revealed that Courtney used to work for Shroud. This is perfect if you're romancing Invisigal, but it's a little oddly awkward if Blonde Blazer is your endgame.
The fact that Dispatch isn't actually a game is what makes it Game of the Year.
Adhoc Games has advanced the Telltale formula in surprising ways with Dispatch.
That's because Invisigal kissing Robert wasn't dependent on whether you went on a date with her or not, and was actually tied to one of the game's secret counters called “Sweet Exit.” This is measured by dialogue choices, as highlighted by Zero-sumgames. Previously, Invisigal only needed 5 points to kiss you, which meant that happened to a lot of players who weren't aiming for romance.
This patch also fixes the infamous Hacked by Robert achievement, which prevented many players from achieving 100% completion.
As highlighted in a post by Redditor DANKSPARTAN_69, Dispatch's latest patch states that it includes “conditional outcome adjustments to balance character relationships in Episodes 7 and 8.” what's this? actually This means that AdHoc has increased the secret counter requirement that Invisigal must kiss Robert when the two say goodbye. Sweet Exit points are now 10 instead of 5.
If all the numbers and secret counters are confusing you, all this basically means is that players will need to be much more purposeful in romancing Invisigal to provoke locker room kisses. This can easily prevent any awkward moments when you're trying to romance Blonde Blazer or want to be platonic friends with both her and Invisigal.
