However, it's likely that the studio has already chosen a successor to Demon Slayer, and that's Genshin Impact.
Most people have forgotten about ufotable's announcement regarding Genshin Impact. Ultimately, the statement came out in 2022 and there was absolute silence on the matter, leading some to question whether the studio has any plans to work on the Genshin Impact anime. Since there has been no update from the studio, it would not be wrong for fans to ask ufotable questions. However, it's possible that ufotable has been quiet on the matter because they want to focus solely on Demon Slayer, and no one can blame the studio.
However, it appears that ufotable is waiting for the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle film trilogy to conclude before embarking on another series. ufotable has set an incredibly high bar with their Demon Slayer anime adaptation and wouldn't want anything to tarnish their reputation. Therefore, it is natural to wait and complete the current project before starting another project.
Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Movie 2 & 3 Release Date
ufotable released the first Infinity Castle movie earlier this year and it broke all kinds of records. The film became the highest-grossing film in Japanese history, and even surpassed phenomena like Superman at the global box office. The response to the film proves that animation has become more mainstream. Even people who aren't anime fans have shown interest in watching Demon Slayer because of its amazing animation quality. Maintaining these high standards is only possible if employees are given sufficient time.
So ufotable should give its employees enough time to produce another great movie without forcing them to work overtime. According to published statements, each film takes more than two years to produce. So, if the studio started work in 2025, the next film would be released around 2027. It's possible that some crew members were assigned to the second film and most of them worked on the first film. If so, the second movie won't take as long as the first. If the studio pushes the second film out in 2027, the third and final film could be released in 2029, which is consistent with speculation about the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trilogy ending before 2030.
After the trilogy concludes, ufotable may start working on the fifth season of the anime. Many fans believe the studio would never do something like that, but it's happened in the past. Besides, it is always better to have an alternative. The fifth season of Demon Slayer does not begin immediately after the trilogy. ufotable will likely take a year or two to apply the finishing touches before releasing the TV series.
If fans don't want to wait that long, they can just start reading the manga that ended quite a while ago. Since the comics are source material, fans don't have to worry about the studio adding any additional details. But if the wait doesn't bother them, it's better to wait for the second and third movies.
