Pokemon Legends: ZA Although it was released just three weeks ago, additional content is already coming in the form of a new Diancie side quest and the Mega Dimension DLC, which is currently scheduled for release on December 10th. Many fans are wondering how to introduce Diancie. Pokemon Legends: ZA Due to the Pokémon's incredibly low catch rate (and the fact that its catch rate matches the color scheme of its low Heel Ball), this animal cannot yet be used in ranked battles. Things will change dramatically on December 10th as several Pokemon will be released and receive new Mega Evolutions, including Gen 3's Chimecho.
Pokemon Legends: ZAThe second trailer for the Mega Dimension DLC was released yesterday, giving us a better look at what comes with the expansion.

Mega Chimecho Inn Pokemon Legends: ZA It has a very unique appearance that combines the general idea of Chimecho as a Pokémon with Chingling's pre-evolution design, a silhouette that creates a gold/metal frame that holds multiple chimes. This is an interesting take on Mega Evolution, and the fact that you get Steel as a secondary type is also fantastic for Chimecho. But Mega Evolution takes away more than it gives, so we should be angry rather than celebrating.
Pokémon Legends: Say Goodbye to Chimecho Region Forms and Generational Evolution After ZA
As for special effects, Mega Evolution is my favorite in the entire series. The 100 extra stat points give Game Freak a way to give fully evolved animals new special forms that are more powerful than their base forms. However, this also means that any Pokémon that is technically capable of Mega Evolution may not have further evolutions in future generations, or even regional forms. This is not a hard rule, but Pokemon Legends: ZABoth the new DLC Mega Evolutions and the base game Mega Evolutions are for animals that lack other forms, and Pokémon capable of Mega Evolving in the Gen 6 games have not gained regional forms or inter-generational evolutions since.
This is a bad thing for Chimecho, as its BST is 455, and it has 50 attack points and all its other stats are higher, so it's not a terrible spread, but it's far from being a good Pokémon. This is mainly due to the following reasons:
-
Chimecho's low stats that Mega Chimecho can only improve with BST 555 so far.
-
Chimecho's move selection is rather poor, and adding Steel as a secondary type for Mega Chimecho (Psychic/Steel) can only do so much.
-
Considering that Pokemon Legends: ZAThe best teams usually use Metagross, and sometimes Mega Metagross as well. It's hard to justify picking a Mega Chimecho with a BST of 555 vs Metagross' 600 and Mega Metagross' 700.
-
Chimecho getting a Mega Evolution means it likely won't get the regional form and basically guarantees that it won't get a generational evolution either.
Pokémon Legends: Why ZA's Mega Chimecho is a curse and not a blessing
Generational evolutions are a permanent addition, which is much better for a Pokémon's potential usefulness in battle. Mega Evolution is Pokemon Legends: ZATherefore, it is temporary. while pokemon champion Although it allows for Mega Evolutions, it's unclear how popular the game will be or how much traction it will attract in the competitive scene.
So Chimecho shouldn't have done a Mega Evolution, but instead gone through further generational evolutions. Probably as soon as Gen 10 next year. The needle may not move much in Mega Chimecho. Pokemon Legends: ZAIf this particular gimmick goes away, so does the entire series. As cool as Mega Chimecho is, it's more of a curse than a blessing for this overpowering Pokémon.
You could argue that Chimecho's mega evolution is better than nothing, but waiting more time for a proper evolution to happen would have been a better scenario.
