Assassin's Creed Shadows is coming to Switch 2 in December.

Assassin's Creed Shadows comes to Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4th. Ubisoft revealed the release date today with a 55-second overview video that gives players a decent gist of what they can expect in terms of visuals and a bit less of an idea of performance. For my money, it seems pretty good.

The game launches for $59.99, but you can purchase the premium edition for $99.99 if you want. This includes 'Claws of Awaji' (temporarily unplayable) and the Sekiryu Duel Pack. Considering that another AAA Ubisoft release, Star Wars Outlaws, came to Switch 2 with a Gold Edition for $59.99 (and did quite well at the time), and that the “Gold Edition” includes that game's Season Pass DLC, this is a relatively similar It appears to be.

You can check out the trailer above. There's also a press release, so I've pasted it in for your eyes only (and everyone else's eyes).

San Francisco – October 23, 2025 – Today Ubisoft announced that Assassin's Creed Shadows will be released on Nintendo Switch™ 2 on December 2, 2025. A Nintendo Switch 2 version optimized for all play modes allows players to enjoy the game seamlessly at home or on the go. It also includes touch screen support, making navigating menus, maps, and hideouts more intuitive than ever.

At launch, the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Assassin's Creed Shadows will include all content updates introduced since the game's launch, with only the 'Claws of Awaji' expansion coming early next year.

“We’re excited to bring Assassin’s Creed Shadows to Nintendo players,” said Charles Benoit, Game Director of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. “Whether slipping through the shadows as Naoe or taking on enemies head-on as Yasuke, players can use Nintendo Switch 2 to roam the streets and rooftops of feudal Japan at home or on a journey anywhere.”

Nintendo Switch 2 owners can purchase the Standard Edition of the game for $59.99 on launch day, either as a physical version that includes a Nintendo Switch 2 game key card, or as a download from the Nintendo eShop. Premium edition (digital only) costs $99.99. The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Assassin's Creed Shadows supports cross-progression across all platforms via Ubisoft Connect, allowing players to continue their journey seamlessly across multiple platforms.

Touchscreen support should be fun, and cross-progression would be welcome. Assassin's Creed Shadows' already released expansion pack 'Claws of Awaji' will make its Switch 2 debut early next year. So I'm a bit embarrassed. And yes, it is. The physical version of Shadows' upcoming port will actually be a game key card. So here goes. Just know that it may not be cost-related.
