There are two things you need to do in Borderlands 4: All you have to do is find a gun and shoot. They work perfectly together because finding a better gun means better shooting. It's a simple yet effective formula that makes the game fun to play. There's a story like The Timekeeper somewhere, but these two are the core pillars of the entire series.

But there's one thing that can get in the way of finding guns and shooting things, and that's listening to NPCs while they give you missions. Thankfully, the developers have ensured that the writing isn't as slapstick as previous games, but you'll still need to hear it before proceeding. Obviously there is no option to skip the dialogue as it may break how the game works.

Gearbox can't add skip dialogue option to Borderlands 4

Borderlands 4's Rush is smiling while holding a water bottle.

As GamesRadar discovered, someone on Twitter shared a video of the fan-made 'Skip Conversation' feature and asked Gearbox why they haven't integrated the feature yet. In fact, most of us don't care about the random things NPCs say, especially during side missions. Place a marker on the map and let’s go!

However, this may be easier said than done. Creative director Graeme Timmins responded that Borderlands 4 was built in a way that did not accommodate this feature. In fact, adding it now will break the game.

“I would be cautious about using this mode,” Timmins replied. “Skipping the conversation could break mission state beyond recovery. This request is much more complex and dangerous than it appears on the surface due to the way the conversation is integrated within the mission system. Don't ask me how I know.”

Of course, we all know how Timmins is, after all, the game's creative director. We seem to be trapped as we hear the frantic chatter of the residents of Kairos before heading to the marker to find the gun and shoot.
