The second season of HBO's The Last of US will always be more difficult than the first. The Last of US Part 2 was widely praised for how to talk using an intermediary format, and we forced them to play with Eli and her invader Abby, and we formed a connection with the two characters and saw it as equal players in the most important story.
But of course, HBO is creating a TV show and other media require another way. The show inevitably reconstructed the sequel's storytelling and improved the source data. It is to remove the scene, add other people, reorganize the characters, introduce new things, and change the story and arc to a consistent speed. It's not a story, but an adaptation. The situation will be worse or worse.
Spoiler for Season 2 of HBO's The Last of Us and The Last of US Part 2.
Joel's death was much more shocking
Unfortunately, the method of Abby Anderson's process will be worse because it is the death of Joel, the great event of Season 2. In the way the game progresses, we meet Abby for the first time when we wake up at the temporary outpost overlooking Jackson. We do not know who she is or where she is until Owen leads her to liver, and they talk about seeing the city from afar and seducing someone.
I'm not sure who she is pursuing until we play with her next time. She was rescued from the infected group of Joel and Tommy. We don't know anything about her, just as she kills Joel as a club. That is the reason for the pivotal moment too shocking and emotionally destructive, and the reason the rest of the trip makes it resonate. As we learn more about the pain that Abby and Joel caused her, violent behavior expands and developed over time.

HBO's The Last of Us requires spin -off for Jackson's life.
The show focused at the end.
The show is very different from this event. We have followed Abby in the first episode, and made it quite clear who she is pursuing and what she is trying to do. TV Abby is an advisor to Joel, and she monologues about her work, provides a clear understanding of why he and his audience is doing what he's doing, and justifies his actions as much as possible. All mysteries answer all questions about the events, why she is angry and why they are violent. The meaninglessness in the game is meaningful.
Do not make a mistake. This did not prevent the audience from suffering from the death of Joel. Throughout the Internet, people who have not been damaged in the last five years have lost their minds in rough scenes and are very angry with Abby Anderson. After all, they saw PEDRO PASCAL hitting head on television.
But I think people should actually be more angry at Abi Anderson. Joel's death is so cruel in the game because it is entirely unexpected. The player did not know that he was in danger and expected no one to kill him in a terrible violent manner. The player is urged Dislike Abby, she saw her as a villain and had to sympathize with her when we saw her rest.
If you try to make Abby sympathetic, the show is getting worse.
There were many conversations about how the show should be reconstructed because the show is not a video game that can force us to the shoe of the antagonist. The audience simply cant Please sympathize with Abby because we are looking at her without seeing her.
But I don't think this claim has water. We do not control Elina Abby. We see them through the same lens. This is not a game that we have to keep and survive safely. We are seeing what unfolds without control. If we can sympathize with Elli's time, why can't we learn how to empathize with Abby over time?
I have previously defended HBO's adaptive authority instead of reproduction, but in this case, I think the clear attempt to connect us with ABBY before the death of Joel weakens. We see Abby in the first episode outside the hospital and swore revenge to Joel. There is a monologue that performs just before she kills him. There is a scene where a young Abby walks through the hospital hall, and the old Abby tells her not to go to her. This was especially a hard watch that she knew she would see.

Bella Ramsey played a scene that we were all waiting.
Emotional devastation never felt so destructive.
It tries to see her as a wrong human being, but it's not enough not to hate her about what she has done. We saw Joel and Ellie throughout the season, and Abby saw an episode. His death did not shock the TV audience because Joel was a dangerous Breadcrumb.
SHOWRUNNER CRAIG MAZIN said: “If people know that it is coming, people who do not know it are coming will know that it is coming, and when we feel naturally in the story, we want to talk about our people's meta when we feel natural in the story. Because I will talk about the fact that I did not.
Perhaps the show runners were trying to continue to accuse Joel's death. Perhaps the TV media was needed. Perhaps the fact that the story will be talked about in two seasons has influenced this decision. But shocking in Joel's death diluted it and damaged the excellent story structure of Part 2.
We could have had a tragic television moment when the red wedding moment, the loved ones were tragic without warning. Instead, we left a less effective story.
